europe July 25

Our trip to Europe was one of necessity as much as pleasure. We needed to get over to Jersey where my elderly father had recently been admitted to a care home to sort out a few things. Nevertheless, we took the opportunity to stop in Sydney on the way over & it was a very pleasurable 10days catching up with friends & family. Not sure about Sydney winter though – we have become a bit acclimatised to tropical weather!

From there to Jersey where we stayed for a couple of weeks, which seemed to fly by. Fortunately, due to my very diligent & incredibly organised husband, we were able to sort out a long list of things that needed attention. This included ensuring that arrangements were in place to look after Dad’s house until we can get back for a longer period to sort it out & put it on the market. The plan at the moment is to do that next year once the boat is back in Australia & we can leave it securely for a period of a few months.

After Jersey, a very brief few days in the UK, again catching up with family & friends. We had a really good time enjoying everyone’s company & as an added bonus, the weather was amazingly good! The extraordinary finale to the whole trip was a weekend away with Wil and a very good pal of mine from uni, to a place called Hayling Island. We spent the time embracing the British seaside culture in a holiday park not far from the windswept pebbly beach. So many laughs & great memories!

So we are now back in the Fiji sunshine and despite really bad jet lag, we are working through a ‘to do’ list of what needs to be done before we switch back into cruising mode around the islands of Fiji. We are really looking forward to spending a decent amount of time here as well as hosting friends next month, which will be an immense amount of fun!
